My name is Clare Cook.
I am a fully qualified personal trainer through YMCA which is generally regarded as the best qualification in this field. I am insured and registered with the Register of Exercise Professionals and I am first aid qualified.Based in Putney , South West London, SW15 providing personal training locally and further afield
However, I haven't always been a fanatical gym attendee or sport bore. For 10 years I worked in the City as a solicitor where my only form of exercise was a dash out to buy a caffè latte and a sandwich at lunchtime and occasionally using the stairs instead of the lift! You could say that I swapped one treadmill for another!
Now, as a personal trainer, I am passionate about staying active and keeping fit but as an ex-city solicitor, I am only too aware of how busy and stressful life can be and how little time seems to be left over for looking after our most precious asset — our body!
That's where I can help you, no matter what your goals are, whether it is to run a marathon or just to get up the stairs without being out of breath, whether its weight loss or aerobic fitness, gain strength, flexibility or body toning, all your health and lifestyle goals can be achieved effectively and most importantly, efficiently with a tailor made programme designed exclusively for you.
My philosophy is to help you get to the stage where a healthy lifestyle is a way of life.
As well as fitness tests this also includes BMI; Hip/waist ratio; blood pressure and resting heart rate.
I am not a qualified nutritionist but I am qualified to give basic nutrition advice and advice on healthy eating, in particular in relation to sport. I can assess your diet from you keeping a food diary and advise on it. I can assess how your diet compares to government guidelines (the healthy eating pyramid) and can give you an idea of your calorie intake and what your ideal calorie intake should be (your basic metabolic rate) depending on your weight and the exercise you do and what you want to achieve.
Often overlooked but one of the most effective ways of exercising that there is. It is also low impact; has a low risk of injury; is suitable for all levels of fitness; will help with weight management; will lower the risk of coronary heart disease. And most importantly it can easily be incorporated into your life, will help with stress management and is sociable! I can help you to get the most out of walking and can even provide you with a progressive programme to follow.
Do you need to improve certain areas of your game? I can help devise a programme that is specific to your sport and specific to the areas that you would like to work on.
